Tivvy came home from the Black Country with all three points following a superb vintage performance from all the team. Once again we found ourselves a goal down and once again we showed resilience and character to battle back and take the game by the scruff of the neck. Phil Everett was again in the unfamiliar role of left wing back‚ but he seems to be enjoying it there and could well make it his own. He also scored two stunning goals. The very impressive Pete Varley also got himself a couple and Steve Daly one‚ with a tremendous far post header that put us back on terms.

Although Stourbridge started brightly taking a fortuitous 11th minute lead through a deflection off Paul Tatterton which fell perfectly for Jason Rhodes to slot home‚ the writing was already on the wall as Tivvy were looking dangerous and stretching Stourbridge.

It didn´t take long for Tivvy to restore parity as the outstanding Pete Varley delivered an inch perfect 17th minute cross for Steve Daly‚ at the far post‚ to head past the outstretched De Bont in the Stourbridge goal. It took until the 40th minute for Tivvy to convert their total dominance into an actual lead and this time it was‚ the provider of the first goal‚ Pete Varley´s turn to get on the score sheet. He chased a flick on from the halfway line and brilliantly drilled a left footed shot across the ´keeper and inside the far post.

The Tivvy officials had hardly got themselves comfy in the impressive directors enclosure when Phil Everett‚ chasing a superb Steve Ovens flick on‚ fired past De Bont for Tivvy´s third. Darren Tallon must have felt slightly hard done by as he was dismissed on 61 minutes for an incident off the ball. Stourbridge´s Richard Madeley brought Tallon down rugbyesque style and held on to his boots. Tallon‚ trying to get up‚ was adjudged to have heeled Madeley in the face‚ when it actually looked like Madeley tried to bite the back of Tallon´s leg. Despite being down to ten men Tivvy continued to dominate and on 75 minutes came their forth and best goal of the game. The irrepressible Pete Varley´s perfectly weighted cross was met by Phil Everett whose first time volley‚ back across the goal‚ thundered into the top right hand corner of the net to give Phil his 306th goal for Tivvy and the keeper no chance. Pete Varley made the score line reflect Tivvy´s domination when on 90 minutes following a nice one-two with Steve Ovens he drove home through the ´keeper for Tivvy´s fifth.
