A former England Youth international, Vinnicombe had played for Exeter City, Glasgow Rangers and Wycombe Wanderers, and was chosen as Martyn Rogers' successor in 2010. However, despite his experience in the professional game he was unable to guide the Yellows forward in a period of transition and stayed at the helm for just four months before his tenure was brought to an end.
