Match report

Tiverton Town 2 - 0 Bromsgrove Rovers

Sunday 14/11/1999   Southern League First Division

Tivvy took a while to get going against a hardworking and frustrating Bromsgrove side‚ but when they did the result never really looked in doubt. It was that man again - Dominic Richardson who‚ like last wednesday´s game‚ got both the goals. But unlike that game the goals this time came within three minutes of each other. The first‚ an excocet of a free kick‚ which took a little deflection and the second‚ a far post header from a Pete Conning cross.
Tivvy just couldn´t get going in the first half‚ although they did manage to eke out one ot two scoring chances. On 10 minutes‚ Kevin Nancekivell got himself through‚ controlled the ball really well but‚ when squaring up to shoot‚ was brought down in the box for a penalty. Well‚ everyone thought it was a penalty‚ that is everyone except the ref‚ so it was not to be. Steve Daly had an effort just over the bar on 35 minutes and 2 minutes later Kevin Nancekivell tapped the ball just over form a Dominic Richardson free kick.
In the second half Tivvy looked much more the part as they stepped up the pace and took the game to Bromsgove with a bit more conviction. Pete Varley shot just wide on 51 minutes and Phil Everett had a shot blocked. On 65 minutes Tivvy were awarded a free kick just outside the area when Steve Daly was tripped after he left a defender stranded. It was Steve Daly who took the free kick as he touched the ball into the path of Dominic Richardson who fired home an absolute belter. Just three minutes later it was Dominic Richardson again. This time heading home a Pete Conning cross at the far post that looped over the keeper into the top left corner. All in all another workmanlike performance from Tivvy. Not a pretty performance by any means but three points in the bag and movement upwards in the table.
Line up: Edwards‚ Vinnicombe‚ Saunders‚ Tatterton‚ Smith‚ Conning‚ Nancekivell‚ Varley‚ Richardson‚ Daly‚ Everett.
Subs: Rogers (Conning 78)‚ Pears (Varley 68)‚ Bater (Nanckivell 83).
