Salisbury 1 - 0 Tiverton Town

Tuesday 27/12/2005   Southern League Premier Division
AJ

Just got back after six & a half hours driving to see 55 minutes of football ‚ and thats after the game was put back 15 minutes.

Just under four hours to get to Salisbury ‚ for most of the travelling fans ‚ what on earth the Southern League are thinking of ‚ when most of the Football was played yesterday ‚ when the roads were deserted !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Missed the first 35 minutes ‚ but I am told by the Salisbury fans we could have scored in the first minute ‚ and Salisbury had three good chances of which Sales headed in one ‚due to poor marking from a corner‚ and Danny Clay was taken off with concussion ‚ to be replaced by young Sam Croft

The ten minutes of the first half I did get to see was all one way traffic towards the Salisbury goal ‚ but without creating a goalworthy effort

Second half much the same ‚ Tiverton dominated for long periods with Ampadu dictating the game ‚ but you could see how Salisbury have only conceded eight goals this season with big strong no nonsense defenders clearing to safety on most occassions .

However we did create four clear cut chances with Pearsy heading just wide ‚a Mudgie freekick special which the keeper made a great save from ‚ and substitute Kurt Nogan missed two gilt edge oppportunities when scoring looked easier than missing

Salisbury only created one chance in the whole of the second half .But I have to say they look a very good side and it is easy to see why they are at the top ‚ extremely well organised at the back ‚ and very dangerous on any type of set piece.‚ but take heart from this we were more than a match for them‚and played very well ‚ and deserved at least a draw .

All credit to Martyn for throwing on the extra forward after 60 minutes ‚ certainly talking to the Salisbury officals after the game ‚ they felt it was their toughest game yet ‚ and thought they were fortunate to get all three points

Two more tough games to come ‚ and we do need at least four points from them.

My MOM Ampadu just shading it from the impressive Tom Gardner
