Gloucester City 4 - 5 Tiverton Town

Saturday 07/01/2006   Southern League Premier Division
AJ

Two goals from Mudgie after 18 minutes from excellent link up play with Pearsy on both occasions ‚ absolute stroll in the park for 35 minutes with five other attempts on goal ‚ then we had a period of five minutes of slack play in which Corbett scored from the penalty spot after Holloway was adjudged to have held down there 9 after the ball was cleared from danger.

Holloway then atoned for his mistake on 44 mins with a great run down the byline and chipped into the penalty area for Chris Bale to powerfully head home.

Surely game over !!!!!!

Second half we forgot to pass to each other yet again !!!! with the Gardender & Winter electing to hoof the ball out of defence ‚ bypassing the midfield trio that had so dominated the game in the first half.

The game was fizzling out ‚ until on 73 mins Ovo had to make his first save‚ only for his defenders to let him down by not clearing there lines and the 3 put the ball in the back of the net from 15yards

Within a minute folowing a horrendous mistake by Goff ‚ Wilkinson smashed his poor clearance into the back of the net from 25yards

Three shots on goal ‚ resulting in three goals‚ but it was to get worse on 79 mins Goff made a poor tackle out on the wing after being caught out of position ‚ which saw him substituted immediately by Rogers ‚ and from the freekick ‚ the defence failed to clear and Winters managed to slot the ball home for an own goal 4.3 down

Milsom replaced Pears and immediately the midfield started to push Gloucester back ‚ we won our first corner on 81minutes which was cleared of the line by frantic defending‚

On 83 mins from another Ampadu inswinging corner there was another scramble on the line with Clay being congratulated by his relieved team mates for knocking the ball in.

To there credit the lads pushed on looking for the winner ‚with Milsom leading from the front and causing the Gloucester defenders all sorts of problems in the air ‚ and from one of his challenges the ball dropped to Mudgie on the outside of the box ‚ who hit a great shot destined for the bottom corner ‚ only to be denied by a great save from the outstanding Matt Bath in the Gloucester goal ‚ but it deflected to the oncoming Chris Bale to slot home the winner in the 87 minute.

Gloucester had one chance to level it in the last minute but Wilkinsons hard hit cross shot fortunately flew wide.

Three points ‚ moving up the league ‚ most results went for us ‚ great game for the neutral .

Mr Rogers kept the team in the dressing room for an extra ten minutes after the game I am suprised you never heard the boll***ing he gave them in Tiverton ‚ and my opinion quite rightly so.

This could and should have been a comfortable victory ‚ but again we stopped playing the ball on the ground in the second half ‚ where our midfield three are so effective.

Excellent referee ‚ game played in good spirit and the home crowd gave all the players a standing ovation at the end for such an entertaining game
