John Mitten

The son of former Manchester United outside-forward Charlie Mitten, John was a left winger who enjoyed a solid professional career with Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City having also played in the Football League for the likes of Mansfield Town, Newcastle United, Leicester City and Coventry City. He then played semi-pro and amateur football for Bath City and Trowbridge Town before rounding out his playing days at Ladysmead.

Mitten had been appointed manager for the 1980/81 season but due to changing jobs he presided over just one match - a defeat to Bristol Rovers in the Hospital Cup. An England youth international, he was also a very accomplished cricketer and played 14 first-class matches for Leicestershire as a RHB/wicket keeper between 1961 and 1963.
