Tivvy held third division Northampton Town to a creditable 0-0 draw here at Ladysmead. "We rode our luck a bit‚ but all in all it was another good work out for us‚" said Martyn Rogers.
Tivvy again had a strange appearance with the new trialists having another chance to prove what they can do. The second half saw Steve Ovens on for Pete Varley‚ who immediately caught the eye with an impressive performance; looking extremely sharp. Nathan Blamey started the game‚ and he too looked sharp and very composed on the ball‚ but unfortunately he had to come off in the second half after picking up an ankle injury.
Tivvy had two or three good chances in the first half‚ but couldn´t make them count. Northampton must have wondered what they had to do to score‚ with a combination of Tivvy´s goal living a charmed life and Northampton´s woeful finishing. The second half continued much as the first‚ but with Tivvy increasingly asserting themselves as the half went on‚ playing some lovely football at times. All in all‚ another good performance from a team full of new faces of whom one or two look to have tremendous potential.
Line up: Edwards‚ Fallon‚ Tatterton‚ Smith‚ Leonard‚ Daly‚ Rogers‚ Pears‚ Varley‚ Richardson‚ Everett‚ Blamey‚ Harvey‚ Vinnicombe‚ Ovens Chesterfield.
Not playing: Conning‚ Tallon‚ Nancekivell‚ Tucker‚ Saunders‚ Pears.
