The final pre-season friendly was played in hot sunshine and on a somewhat bobbley surface‚ but it did not stop Tivvy dominating this game. If Martyn Rogers wanted this match for his players to find the back of the net‚ then he would have been pleased with the outcome. Using the match also to have one last final look at his squad before the start of the new campaign‚ he would have been pleased also with the commitment and attitude of all the players. The game finished 7-0 with goals from Scott Rogers on 11 minutes with a left footed shot that may have had a touch from Steve Ovens. On 13 minutes Kevin Nancekivell nodded home a Dave Leonard cross that was flicked on by Phil Everett. Steve Ovens got himself on the score sheet on 17 minutes after a long throw from Dave Leonard. The keeper failed to clear the ball under pressure from Phil Everett and the ball fell nicely for Ovens to side foot the ball home. Then on 20 minutes a through ball put in by Pete Conning‚ was dummied by Steve Ovens to let Kevin Nancekivell run through to fire home a cracking goal from 15 yards. Pete Conning sent in yet another cracking delivery 7 minutes later that was sweetly volleyed into the bottom left hand corner by Phil Everett.
The second half continued in much the same vein as‚ with 52 minutes gone‚ Pete Conning fired home‚ in off the cross bar‚ with a superb left footed looping volley from 20 yards. Luke Vinnicombe got himself on the score sheet with a goal 5 minutes later.
Line up: Edwards‚ Blamey‚ Vinnicombe‚ Tucker‚ Chesterfield‚ Saunders‚ Tallon‚ Smith‚ Leonard‚ Rogers‚ Nancekivell‚ Richardson‚ Conning‚ Ovens‚ Everett.
Not playing: Tatterton‚ Fallon‚ Daly‚ Harvey‚ Varley‚ Pears.
