Tuesday 12/10/1999   FA Trophy
Nigel Davis

Wembley hero Scott Rogers kept his nerve to put Tivvy into the FA Trophy second round.Scott cooly despatched the penalty that finally settled this 210-minute tie‚ to clinch an epic victory at Dorchester. Tivvy settled the quicker of the two sides and dominated proceedings‚ but were unable to make the possession count in the early exchanges. Gradually‚ Dorchester found their rhythm and took the lead through a well taken 30th minute goal by Matt Groves. However‚ like Saturday‚ Tivvy kept their composure and kept up the pressure and 10 minutes later Kevin Nancekivell capitalised on Richard Pears´ superb approach work to calmly slot his 6th goal of the season. The second half saw Pete Varley start for the injured Steve Ovens and was just 6 minutes old when the referee awarded a penalty for handball‚ but this time it was Dorcester who were on the receiving end after Steve Daly made no mistake to make it 2-1. Dorchester rallied and secured extra time thanks to an exceptionally well taken 73rd minute equalliser from Martin Sullivan.

Extra time failed to settle the issue even with the new legs of Luke Vinnicombe and Lee Harvey on for Dominic Richardson and Richard Pears‚ but Tivvy gained the initiative in the resultant penalty shoot-out when Paul Edwards brilliantly saved Danny O´ Hagan´s and Dorchester´s first penalty. Pete Varley‚ Luke Vinnicombe‚ Steve Daly‚ Kevin Nancekivell and Scott Rogers sealed Tivvy´s passage with five exceptionally well taken penalties.
