Tivvy worked hard and got exactly what they deserved in a hard fought game in heavy conditions. Scott Rogers continued his excellent form with a man of the match display. He scored the all important first goal and worked tirelessly all afternoon‚ seemingly involved with everything. Phil Everett scored his third in three games up front and Nance‚ back after injury‚ got the other.

It was vitally important that Tivvy bounced back from a string of defeats that left us off the pace a bit‚ but Tivvy returned to form in impressive style with an emphatic display.

It took only three minutes for Tivvy to get their first‚ when a delightful ball from Phil Everett found Scott Rogers whose‚ outside of the left foot lob deceived the Gresley 'keeper to loop inside the far post. The goal settled Tivvy and they played some very good football‚ creating a hatfull of chances and defending well when they needed to. One such occasion however‚ resulted in a challenge from Nicky Marker on Gresley's Neil Kitchen which‚ unfortunately‚ saw Kitchen stretchered off and ambulanced to hospital with a suspected broken leg.

Tivvy extended their lead in the 28th minute when Kevin Nancekivell out-paced the Gresley defence and pushed the ball across the path of the stranded 'keeper to leave Phil Everett with the easiest of tasks to slot the ball home for his tenth goal of the season and his third goal in three games since returning to his usual position up front. Both Kevin Nancekivel and the impressive and hard working Pete Varley failed to convert their chances to seal the game before the half time whistle.

In the second half Tivvy continued to dominate with Dominic Richardson twice going close with two long range efforts. Tivvy had another glorious opportunity only for 'keeper Wright to make a good save at the feet of Scott Rogers. For all their possession and domination it took until the 80th minute for Tivvy to put the game beyond doubt when Pete Conning's pass allowed Kevin Nancekivell to score his 17th goal of the season. 'Keeper Ian Wright pulled off another great save in the last minute‚ this time denying Phil Everett after intercepting a poor back-pass.
