To give you some idea of how long it had been since Tivvy last won a league match at Plain Ham, goals that day from Mark Seatherton and Clive Jones, 23rd of April 1988 to be precise. That said there is a huge gap between then and the next visit (24 years) but a statistic none the less. Owen Howe struck the decisive blow just before the hour mark of a feisty encounter, in which Tiverton had to play the second period with only 10, Ben Carter red carded for a dangerous tackle shortly before half time, and Howe will also serve a suspension, after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season.

On a pitch that can be best described as sticky, neither side were really able to play any fluid kind of football but the majority of the clear cut chances came the visitors way, Larkhall unable to reproduce the form and football that saw them score 5 without reply at Shortwood recently,

Tivvys defence superbly marshalled by Man of the Match Ben Mammola alongside Steve Kingdon and Mike Landricombe.

Larkhall keeper Ben John has been mentioned in match reports on a couple of occasions already this season, mainly for his `misbehaviour`, but last Saturday were it not for him Tiverton could have ran riot. The yellows, fresh from their 4 goal haul against Bishops Cleeve, were denied another glut of goals by some wonderful saves by John in the first period to thwart both Levi and Michael Landricombe, and when he was finally beaten by Steve Kingdons header, former Tiverton utility man Jay Adams was on hand to clear off the line.

However, there was nothing John could do to stop what would turn out to be the match winner. Owen Howe started a break away as the hosts were pressing to make the most of their numerical advantage, his ball forward released Landricombe and with defenders backing away he teed up Nick Hurst whose effort crashed back into play off the crossbar and into the path of Howe, who struck the sweetest half volley into the corner for his 12th league goal of the season.
