Frome Town 1 - 3 Tiverton Town

Saturday 29/12/2018   Southern League Premier Division

Finally. Not since a 3-2 win over bottom of the table Staines Town on the 3rd of November have the Yellows racked up a victory, so the sense of relief for all involved at the full time whistle was clear to see and nothing more than the visitors deserved. The previous form between the sides pointed towards a Yellows victory as you have to go back twenty one matches and to 1981 for a Frome victory but with recent form as it was, no-one was getting carried away before and during the match.

Stewart Yetton tapped in from close range to open the scoring on the stroke of half time, Levi Landricombe curled in second on sixty five and Man of the Match Callum Hall wrapped on the victory on sixty-nine before Kriss Scott headed the hosts a consolation three minutes from the end and there was still time for the hosts Man of the Match goalkeeper James Carey to save a Levi Landricombe penalty. Harrison Davis replaced the injured Tom Bath in the only change from those who had narrowly been beaten at Taunton on Boxing Day while the hosts had familiar faces amongst their ranks, former Yellows in striker Jordan Rogers and defender Ollie Knowles and were looking to bounce back from their narrow, last minute Boxing Day defeat at home to Merthyr Town.

The first half whistled by, largely uneventfully, on a sticky pitch, the only real point of note was the superb finger tip save from Carey to tip over a rasping drive from Key until right on the stroke of half time. Harrison Davis burst forward was illegally halted by Morgan-Williams twenty five yards from goal, Levi Landricombe sent the resulting free kick towards the back post, Jamie Price headed back across goal and Stewart Yetton tapped home from about a yard out for his first Tiverton goal since opening the Yellows scoring in a 2-1 FA Cup win over Windsor & Eton in October 2005.

Carey was already racing towards his own personal accolade for the day with another superb save to deny Levi Landricombe at the start of the second half while only an offside flag denied the hosts and Kriss Scott an equaliser before the Yellows took a stranglehold on the match in just four minutes. With sixty-five on the clock, Stewart Yetton capitalised on a short Rex Mannings back pass, who had replaced the injured Tristan Plummer at half time, and although Carey forced Yetton away from goal, he steadied himself and found Levi Landricombe who right footed, curled the Yellows second of the day in to the top corner for his eleventh of the season.

Then, on sixty-nine Callum Hall burst out of midfield after the Yellows backline had cleared a corner and fired in the Yellows third at the second time of asking after Carey had again done well to block his first attempt, for his first goal since scoring a brace in a 3-0 win over Slough Town before Kriss Scott did eventually reduce the arrears on eighty-seven, heading home from close range and in the final minute of the ninety Carey saved a Levi Landricombe penalty low down to his left after Ollie Knowles had bundled Landricombe to the floor
