Tiverton Town 2 - 3 Dorchester Town

The Yellows, in their first outing of 2019, crashed to a disappointing defeat by the odd goal in five to Dorchester Town after a brace from eventual Man of the Match Levi Landricombe was matched by Magpies striker Ben Seymour before second half substitute Aaron Rodriguez bagged the winner six minutes from time and there was still time for the Yellows penalty hoodoo to continue as Jamie Price blazed high over the crossbar from twelve yards in second half stoppage time. As just rewards for their performance and victory at Frome last time out, the Yellows named an unchanged line up, Harrison Davis playing for the final time before starting his three match ban after being sent off at Taunton on Boxing Day and the visitors, looking to kick on from their one-all draw at home to Wimborne previously, were also unchanged.

The start to proceedings, from the hosts perspective, was the perfect New Years` gift. Michael Landricombe sent brother Levi scampering towards goal with a measured through ball and after a touch to control he fired in to the far corner, again right footed, to give the Yellows the lead in just the second minute, only an offside call prevented Tom Gardner, making his 595th appearance, from doubling the Yellows lead soon after and a Levi Landricombe header from a pinpoint Josh Key cross was well saved by Latham.

Their lead lasted just sixteen minutes though as Ben Seymour reacted to quickest to divert an Antonio Diaz delivery past Armstrong and then ten minutes before the interval the hosts took the lead after Jamie Price was adjudged to have fouled Blair and Seymour despatched the hotly contested spot kick despite Armstrong, who had agreed to extend his loan deal from Bristol Rovers until the end of the season earlier in the day, guessing correctly which way Seymour would go and only minutes after the visitors were incensed when they were not awarded a second spot kick as Diaz went down in the area, with Mammola, who had just been cautioned for a crunching tackle on Blair, in close attendance, referee Steve Annis though waved away their protests.

Levi Landricombe reacted quickest to a Jamie Price knock down to restore parity from close range after the Magpies had missed opportunities to extend their lead further at the start of the second period and from then on gilt-edged Yellows chances and pressure would surely bring about only one result. Landricombe blazed over after getting on the end of a Steve Colwell through ball and Callum Halls cross was agonisingly out of Josh Keys reach. Football can be so cruel at times though and on eighty-four, Michael Landricombe clattered his clearance into Aaron Rodriguez and the ball fell kindly enough for the substitute to steer home what would eventually turn out to be the winner, before more spot kick misery for the Yellows. Yetton was sent tumbling in stoppage time and despite an obscured view, Annis pointed to the spot. Jamie Price stepped up, Landricombe clearly not interested after his miss at Frome last time out, but Price sent his spot kick high over the crossbar and the chance to rescue a deserved point was gone.
