Highworth Town v Tiverton Town

The day started off slowly as we were stuck for 30 minutes in road works at Taunton. We arrived at Highworth at about 2.30pm.

When we got there‚ I was already hungry‚ but found the chip shop and a pound from my dad. They were yummy.

There was lots of Tivvy fans at the ground‚ more from Tiverton than Highworth‚ altough Swindon were at home at the same time.

We played in white‚ and started the game with great enthusiasm. The first attack saw‚ new boy‚ Ampadu race between 2 defenders and deliver an inch perfect cross for Mike Booth to score with a firm header and we celebrated behind the goal in style.

Highworth then caught us on the break and after 15 minuted‚ a cross from the left was poorly missed by Milson and knocked in by Matty Saye to massive celebration from the home bench and crowd.

It only took a few minuted for Booth to score another header‚ again at the back post from a pin point cross. We then scored a 3rd Ampadu´s ree kick was on target‚ but Yetton got the slightest of touches‚ to deflect the ball passed the keeper (who had yellow dyed hair!).

To be fair the keeper made 2 or 3 great stops to keep a confident Tivvy attack to three

Half time 1.3

In the half time break I had a Sprite Z at 80p.....My dad said it would make me go loopy....so I thought our players should have the same....and they must have as we ran riot in the 2nd half

2 minutes in‚ we made it 4 with Booth´s Hat-trick‚ his easiest of the 3‚ sending Viv and the other tea ladies into song....this was not very good!

We were playing on a significant down hill slope and by now it was a case of how many we could get. Our 5th got by far the biggest chear of the day as Mudgie ended his goal famine with a superb strike. He jinked passed 2 helpless defenders to thunder past the keeper from a tight angle into the right bottom corner. New boy Kwami ‚ was the first to hug Mudge and everyone was happy. Ramsey was smiling like mad. We think he was happy with the prize money‚ and Viv was still singing.

The 6th goal came soon after‚ from come back hero Steve Daly. His strike took a deflection and dipped in just beneath the bar‚ bobbling across the line and just going over.

Our 7th goal was a penalty from Steve Winter‚ following a bulldozer of a foul on Noggy Nogan. the defender should have gone‚ but the ref probably felt sorry for the Highworth team. Wints hit the ball‚ went for power and it went to the goalies right hand side.

A great day‚ as we walked passed the club house‚ we saw Paul milsom having a bottle of beer and the Tivvy players signing.

On the way back we waved at newpot fans‚ who had just lost 4.0 at Chippenham. unlucky!
