Tiverton Town 1 - 1 Swindon Supermarine

Tiverton have lost just once in the last twelve meetings of today’s opponents Swindon Supermarine, with the visitors having started the current season brightly, winning their last three league fixtures. Prior to kick off, Joe Belsten was presented with the Player of the Month award, deservedly as he has been hugelyimpressive since joining the club in the summer.

In th first twenty minutes, few chances were created as what seemed two very well matched sides came together. With that said, Chris Zebroski did force Lewis Williams to save with his feet at one end, while Aaron Dawson sent a swerving shot just wide of former Tivvy goalkeeper Martin Horsell's right post. Further into the first half Andy Watkins went close, hooking a volley goalwards which just zipped over Horsell’s crossbar. Moments later Zack Kotwica bent an effort that was arrowing into the top corner, Lewis Williams with a fine save to tip it over. The game opened up into an end-to-end affair but both defences remained resolute, and despite both sides pressing to break the deadlock, the referee brought the half to an end at 0-0.

Eight minutes into the second half, a delayed free kick eventually delivered by Dan Hayfield found Gary Warren, heading straight at Horsell who could only parry it into the path of Olaf Koszela who side-footed home the opener and his seventh goal of the season. With the Yellows clearly still in celebration mode from the visitors kick off, Harry Williams promptly went up the other end to equalise with a deft header, all of 30 seconds after Tiverton going into the lead!

Soon after the Yellows were inches away from retaking the lead; Hayfield again with the delivery, this time finding Watkins who fired just wide. The Yellows soaked up pressure with the clock ticking down, dealing with two successive corners from the visitors that Tiverton worked hard to defend. It was then the hosts turn for successive corners with close to the end, neither neither of which troubled the Swindon defence or goalkeeper Horsell. When the referee brought the game to an end, a draw was probably a fair result in an exciting game which saw both teams have plenty of chances.
