Tiverton got the game underway with both teams needing the  points to move them away from the relegation zone and in the very first minute a Joe Belsten cross was very nearly put into his own net by the Wimborne defender but went just wide of the goal. Tivvy dominated the opening minutes but a quick break from the home side very nearly gave them the lead but a good save from Lewis Williams in the Tivvy goal kept them out.

On eight minutes a long range shot from Wimborne number ten Dan Bartlett nearly dipped over Williams into the Tivvy  net but just went wide of the goal. A minute later and Dan Hayfield had the ball in the Wimborne net but his goal was disallowed for off side. Tiverton were playing the ball around well and Matt Wright found himself in a good goal scoring position but he scuffed his shot and Benfield in the Wimborne goal saved with ease. On seventeen minutes a poor clearance from Tivvys  Williams fell to the Wimborne striker but his shot went just over the bar. A good Tivvy move involving Wright and  Egan  saw the ball fall  to Hayfield who's cross found Morison who shot just over. Tivvy continued to press forward and Wright found himself again in a goal scoring position but his shot trickled just wide of the post. Aaron Dawson then had a low shot which went straight into the keepers arms as Tivvy continued to push forward. A minute later and the deadlock was broken when Wimborne number twelve Jez  Bedford crossed for number ten Dan Bartlett to smack the ball past Williams in the Tivvy goal to put the home side 1-0 up.

Tivvy went looking for the equaliser but Louis Morison was a little to keen in the tackle and was shown a yellow card. Then a couple of minutes  later to the disbelief of everyone in the ground  the referee sent the Wimborne keeper off for what  I believe was dissent. Wimborne did not have a goalkeeper on the bench so outfield player Billy Maybury took over in goal for the home side. Tivvy looked to put pressure on the stand in goalie and a scramble saw Wimborne's number ten Bartlett put the ball onto his own bar and out for a corner. The resulting corner was met by the head of  Tivvys Matt Wright and his header fell to Andy Watkins but his shot was well saved by Maybury in the Wimborne goal. The half finished 1-0 to Wimborne.

Wimborne got the second half underway and Tivvy applied some early pressure against  the ten men of Wimborne but they still lacked the end product. Louis Morison had a shot from the edge of the box which went wide of the goal. Next it was Dan Hayfield who shot from range but again it went wide of the goal. Tiverton then brought on new boy  Jin Heon and he had a early chance which was well saved by the stand in  keeper. The referee indicated there would be four additional minutes of play. But it wasn't enough time for either team to score in. According to the Wimborne stats man Tiverton had twenty two attempts  on the Wimborne goal....but the only stat  that really matters is the one goal that Wimborne scored.
