Match report

Northwood 2 - 4 Tiverton Town

Saturday 04/02/2006   Southern League Premier Division
Smudge

Just got back ‚ a well deserved win for the lads who showed plenty of determination from the outset.
Pears & Nogan dropped to the bench after their lack lustre displays in the last two games ‚ A half fit Mudgie paired with Chris Bale up front ‚ and Ampadu making a welcome return to midfield.

Poor playing surface but we at least did try to play football throughout with Hollowaway & Ampadu dictating the game.

Northwood took the lead with their first attack after 9mins yet again we failed to defend a free kick ‚ ball came off Davies for an own goal.

We had one kicked the line and a blatant handball in the penalty area turned down ‚ in the 45th min Ovendale made a stunning full length save to keep it to one nil .

Within a minute of the restart Davies played in Mudge who scored in typical fashion ‚ nine mins later we took the lead from an Ampadu freekick ‚ Clay sneaked the box for an easy tap in

3 min later from a freekick yet again we failed to clear there 11 smashed the ball home

2 mins later Holloway played a great ball into Mudge who made no mistake

Northwood switched to three up front and nearly equalised from yet another freekick ‚ which the 9 shot from point blank range and somehow Ovendale made yet another stunning save

78 min there 5 needlessly climbed all over Davies in the box ‚up stepped Winter 4 -2 Game over

Ampadu & Mudge made all the difference even though they were clearly not fit ‚ Bale did a good job up front & Holloway had another outstanding game ‚ but my MOM goes to Tom Gardner yet again another excellent display ‚ this lad has done brilliantly for us this season and can only get better.

Up to ninth in this topsy tury league ‚ Merthyr & Banbury to come ‚ We live in hope ‚ especially if we learn to defend from freekicks & corners
