Brent HowardBrent Howard took on the manager's job at Ladysmead during a period where Tivvy was very much at its lowest ebb, and by his own admission, and that of many of his contemporaries it was a thankless task. Town were winless, they had an empty bank balance, and the local press were insistent on making the club a laughing stock. While Howard's record will not stand up statistically, his presence alone afforded the officials time for reflection, allowed the club to fight another day, and out of times of struggle came, a few years later, the success that many are familiar with. It is when revelling in the successes under John Owen and Martyn Rogers that it is worth taking the time to reflect on those, Howard included, who kept the club alive in the most turbulent of times. |
