One of Tiverton's more successful loan signings, both in terms of his performances at Ladysmead and his career thereafter. Brought in from Plymouth Argyle where he was considered a calm and consistent central defender, he put in his best performances for Tivvy in central midfield during two loan spells. Having played just once for Plymouth, and after loan moves to Torquay United and Stevenage Borough Laird moved to the latter on a permanant deal and played over 200 games for Stevenage before making the switch to Preston North End in 2012, then on to Scunthorpe, Walsall and Forest Green Rovers. In 2019 he was appointed player/Assistant Manager at Weston-super-Mare.
