Jules Emati | |

Jules arrived at Ladysmead with Southern League experience having turned out for Weymouth, and earlier in his career had also played in the Conference South with Dorchester Town. But perhaps most significantly he had also forged a partnership with Joe Bushin at Dawlish, so there was, in theory at least, no need for a settling in period at Tiverton. However, goals were few and far between until a substitute appearance against Gosport Borough which saw Emati turn the game with two late strikes, and later in the season he scored a sublime goal against Thatcham from all of forty yards. Mercurial and skilful, Jules added a physical presence to the Tivvy attack as well as the ability to retain possession and create chances out of nothing. His record in front of goal might not be the best but his all-round contribution to the team proved invaluable at times as he was capable of offering that little something different, that je ne sais quoi. He moved to Willand in 2013 but soon returned to Ladysmead having made a positive goalscoring impact at Silver Street. Despite the re-signing, he was not able to cement a place in a team funded by the Clarkson regime; nevertheless, the fact that he is one of very few Tivvy players that will be predominantly referred to by first-name only underlines his status with the fans of the club. |
