As a younster Wright was on the books of Swansea City and Plymouth Argyle, and went on to sign a one-year contract at Crystal Palace. He was not able to force his way into the first team at Selhurst Park and had loan spells at Woking and Maidstone United, playing in the Conference South playoff final at the former and unfortunately coming up short in a 1-0 defeat against Bath City. Wright joined Salisbury City for the 2010/11 season and despite scoring in three consecutive games he was allowed to join Weymouth on a three-month loan deal. He was a regular starter at the Wessex Stadium, but found himself used mainly as a substitute upon his return to Salisbury. However, Wright did find the net in City's successful promotion playoff match against Hednesford Town at the end of that season. He also had loan stints at Hemel Hempstead and Swindon Supermarine before moving to Truro City for the second half of the 2012/13 season, and he joined Tiverton in the summer reshuffle of 2013 where he quickly became a fan-faviourite. Wright scored regularly during the first half of the season but following a difficult spell after Christmas he moved on to Bideford in June 2014. Further spells with Truro, Taunton and Plymouth Parkway followed, before he returned to Ladysmead in 2021. |
